butcher paper

A type of paper which is available in various color, in rolls typically 36 inches wide. It has a fairly hard surface, with one side slightly smoother texture than the other. This sort of paper is useful for very large drawings, paintings, and collages. The colors of the inexpensive sort fade easily, but a more expensive"fadeless" kind is also available. Also see construction paper, lightfast, permanent pigment, and tooth.
